Weds 19th Jan: Meeting puppies in their foster homes

Tyler and Tabby

Just as another reminder that we have many puppies in foster care, here are two of them, Tyler and Tabby, looking ridiculously cute and almost ready to move to their forever homes.  Check out others at Instagram@typhoon_k_puppies, @why_i_foster and @baobaopuppies_foster (Baguette and Brioche).

Puddle is also the last of his particular litter and still in a foster home, and he looks so much like Wilson that at first I thought it was him.  They both have those funny serious faces, and surely there must be any others who find them as gorgeous-silly and appealing as I do.   Check out all the photos again from last Sunday's Whiskers N Paws puppy party Puppy Adoption Day 16th Jan 2022 and you'll see them all there.
I just love this silly face on Puddle

If you want to meet any of the foster puppies in the familiar surroundings of their own homes, which is when they're feeling happy and relaxed, please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com to arrange.

We also have some new young puppies that are in need of foster homes in pairs if you can help. Again please let Cindy know.

Ritzy has just the right home

There are, of course, puppies and smaller dogs available to meet at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre, although no longer shiba inu Ritzy as she was adopted today.  We had been waiting for a home where there was another dog, and offering a quiet environment, as Ritzy needed both.  Happily that's exactly what she now has.

While "Hamstergate" continues to cause anger and shock amongst most Hong Kong animal lovers , the implications are worrying because it's not clear how far this will go in terms of provoking irrational fear.  From what I have read there are hamster owners who are even throwing their pets into rubbish bins, and personally the idea of surrendering a perfectly healthy animal to AFCD to be killed is completely unimaginable. Also the term euthanasia is not appropriate in this situation as it means mercy killing when there is suffering, not when the animal is absolutely fine.  HKDR is about dogs and my blog is read by the dog-loving community, but I know there are many who also have hamsters at home and I would urge all of you to think rationally about the actual threat to your health that your little furry friend poses.
