Sun 18th Aug: Thank you for adopting!

This was Tasha's first and last Whiskers N Paws afternoon
Before I forget to mention it, if you've contacted us and are still waiting for a reply please check your Spam inbox as many emails end up there if the hongkongdogrescue.com address isn't already in your address book.  We have so many situations where this has happened and it's incredibly frustrating, especially when I make a point of trying to reply to enquiries on the same day, especially if it's about adoption.   However, to all of those who ask if we have golden retriever puppies available, the answer is no.

Zoe's gone from a great foster home to a lovely new home
It was incredibly busy at Whiskers N Paws today, with three puppies and one adult being adopted and Magic the older puppy going for a trial.  There's also a good chance for other older puppies but I'll wait for confirmation on those before giving any names.  Mary Dimitropoulou was today's photographer, and here's the lovely album for you to look through   Puppy Adoption Day 18 August 2019 . We still have lots of puppies that didn't go to the adoption event due to lack of space. so you can meet them at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre any day or at next Sunday's Whiskers N Paws afternoon.  If you're serious about adopting please try to come as early as you can so there's time to spend with the puppies before choosing.  Some people come just before five o'clock and as we're starting to pack up, and it's really too late.

Apart from the Whiskers N Paws adoptions we were all very happy to say goodbye to Corky, the shih tzu who had been brought to us as a stray after having been found wandering in the street.  Iris has been fostering him so he got the best care, not to mention a makeover, and he also had surgery to remove a cancerous testicle.  Apart from the obvious reason for desexing your dogs, that is to stop unwanted breeding, neutering males also prevents these types of cancers, while spaying prevents mammary tumours in females (which are very common) and pyometra (infected uterus).  Corky should be fine now as the surgery was carried out early enough, and he's gone to a great home.
