It was Lily's turn today |
There has also been some rearranging taking place at the small Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre as three dogs were moved to Lamma to give them more space and freedom. These particular "red dogs" all have their special volunteers, but as visits take place only weekly it means long periods being cooped up. Nobody likes or wants to see that so the decision was made to send them away, and in so doing also create a bit more space for the other dogs. It may be a temporary move depending on what happens with the Homing Centre and if we can find a bigger place, but for now it's the best solution all round.
Cactus, Ka Yan and Iris made their first-ever trip to my Lamma base, led by Kathy who has been a regular visitor over many years. They were able to see ex-Ap Lei Chau dogs that have ended up at my house including Miss Piggy, Alicia, Loopy and others, and taking advantage of Iris's grooming skills I asked her to clip Murphy's nails for me. He lets me do everything without complaint except touch his feet, and even with Iris's help he still managed to take a couple of chunks from my arm.
The King Charles spaniels were from a group of 5 |
Nancy is waiting for a home with Scruffy |
We're also waiting for a double adoption for the pom Nancy and her terrier friend Scruffy, as they too are bonded and are no trouble to take care of in the meantime. They are both sweet and easy girls who would miss each other if they were separated, and we know that their time will come soon enough.
Murphy didn't want to get out |
I used a dog carrier backpack today on my walk as it seems Murphy isn't supposed to be doing the long hikes yet (following his stem cell treatment). Murphy thought it was the best thing ever and didn't want to get out when it was time for him to walk a bit. Ideally his dream would be to have his own buggy but he can dream on as far as that's concerned. Dogs can be such funny characters!
