The New Year has finally arrived, and apart from wishing everyone a wonderful 2017 I want to say a very sincere thank you to all of you who adopted a dog or puppy during the past twelve months. However many years I've been doing this work I never tire of hearing about our ex-HKDR "kids", and every successful adoption gives me as much happiness and satisfaction now as it has ever done. Some dogs remember me when we meet again, others don't, but either way it doesn't matter as long as they are happy. Kathy has put together a collection of special 2016 moments here, and I hope we managed to get most, if not all, included

An emergency foster is needed for these 3 babies |
One of the worst things about the end of the holiday period for us is that puppy fosters are having to return their little charges as they go back to work, and we are facing the prospect of having a whole load of returnees with nowhere to go. The time when I had space for youngsters on Lamma is long gone, and we have to rely on temporary homes almost completely.

Noelle is the mother of the 3 pups (plus 2 more) |
Three of Noelle's pups who had to move on from their holiday home were lucky enough to be offered a new one, but it turned out that one of the family members was highly and seriously allergic so we are now urgently in need of another foster until the pups are old enough to be adopted. If you can help please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, and of course as long as there is another dog in the home or you can take a pair, the pups can be adopted at this age.

This pair were from a litter of 8 who will be ready for adoption soon |
There are also puppies waiting to be taken from AFCD, which I will do tomorrow, so things are going to be quite difficult until we can get back to normal with the Sunday Whiskers N Paws adoption afternoons. In December we took in eighteen very young babies, all of whom will be ready to go off to forever homes in January, and that's not including the others who came and went in between. You can see why I'm beginning to panic.
