I'm quite sure there are people who are paid a lot of money to understand the psychology behind successful social media posts versus those that pass by almost unnoticed. I don't think any of us expected the huge number of offers for Samoyed-cross Sasha, far more than we received for the labrador puppy, so once again I was glued to my keyboard trying to reply to as many enquiries as I could, while our Foster Coordinator Cindy was also doing the same.
Sasha |
The puzzling thing is that Sasha isn't a purebreed, and she's unfortunately so obese that even gentle evening walks can cause her to faint, although there doesn't seem to be anything actually wrong with her. It's clear the poor dog has never been exercised before and only fed constantly, so getting the weight off is vital if she's going to be able to enjoy the sort of life a young dog deserves. Still, the photos and videos shared on Facebook and Instagram obviously appealed to a lot of people, so we don't have to worry about Sasha not having anywhere to go.
Dawn |
Conversely, the post for Japanese spitz-cross Dawn, another young and very sweet girl, received no interest at all, so I'm scratching my head as to why this could be.
Rex and Nova |
There was also almost no response to my plea for a new home for the small pair Rex and Nova, adopted from HKDR as puppies and suddenly losing their home and family. Luckily though, one person stepped forward to offer both dogs a home together, and I'm just waiting for confirmation that this is really happening.
Surely Barbie will find a home soon? |
Pixie was brought up in a family home |
Going back to Sasha and the incredible response to the request for a new home, please remember that we have a Homing Centre in North Street, Kennedy Town, full to bursting with a variety of small and medium-sized dogs needing new families. We open every single day if you want to visit, but please make sure you complete the adoption questionnaire in advance, and wait for a reply. It's at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
