Weds 16th Aug: Adopt, foster or donate. Every action helps our dogs.

Ace is 6 years old and a lovely boy

I don't give the names to the new Tai Po dogs, even if I have been known to offer alternatives at times, and the latest arrivals at the big Homing Centre are now Ace the labrador and Yoghurt the husky.  As always, if you're interested in either of these lovely, friendly dogs, start by completing the questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/.
Yoghurt is a young husky girl

Bagel is already very much a family member

There was a lovely foster fail today for Bagel, as his status was upgraded to adopted/forever.  Thank you to his foster family for giving Bagel a wonderful life and home.

Ari was chosen today

Also being given a forever family was little Ari from Kennedy Town.  There are many more little dogs still waiting for homes, so again please start by completing the adoption questionnaire if you'd like to offer one (or more) of them a place in your heart and home.
Tabby

Since many small dogs are born with knee problems, meaning wobbly kneecaps which deteriorate over the years so need to be surgically fixed, we have to send them to foster homes so they can recover from the surgery without the risk of being knocked or jumped on by other dogs.  One such dog is Tabby, an adorable little girl who had her patella surgery today at Acorn.  Dr Tony also found that Tabby's hip joint was out of place (dysplasia), so she had additional surgery to remove the "ball" at the top of the leg bone (femoral head excision).  Now that Tabby's problems have been fixed, after the recovery period she'll be as good as new, and be able to walk normally and without pain.

If you would love to have a dog but can't commit to long-term adoption, please consider fostering.  This means temporary care for a dog or puppy, and during the foster period HKDR will provide everything that's needed in terms of food, bed, flea/tick prevention and vet costs. Please complete the foster form at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/fostering/ if this is something that you would like to do.

All of these life-changing surgeries cost money, and while there's never any question that we will do whatever is necessary to fix the problems that make a dog's life difficult or painful, with every knee, hip, spay or neuter, dental treatment etc we see our bank balance doing down and down.   If you can support our efforts to help as many dogs as we can, please go to www.hongkongdogrescue.com/donate/ to check out donation options.

If you can't spare any money, there are other ways you can support, even if it's just by bringing us newspaper or towels, or by dropping your coins into the Coin Dragons around Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Dog Rescue is proud to work with Coin Dragon 換幣龍, a coin exchange machine that converts your coins into REAL value! By depositing your coins with Coin Dragon and donating them to HKDR, you can help us save more dogs and provide the care they need as they await their new home. Every dollar counts!
