Sun 4th Sept: Partners for life

Snoopy and Snuffle today

I had to make a very early start today as I had to take the two pug boys over to Ap Lei Chau to be picked up by their adopter.  I'm so glad we insisted on waiting for someone who would agree to adopting them as a pair, because they are very attached and really so funny together. Snuffle is the leader and he started the games on the sampan after finding a cotton work glove which then became a toy, and the two of them played the whole way over.  It would be impossible not to laugh at the antics of these comedians and I hope they continue to entertain their new family.

Archie and Alexi, both very sweet dogs

It's a tough call to make, holding off on letting one of a bonded pair go as a singleton, because dogs do form very close relationships and feel grief when they lose their partner.  I'd been waiting to see if Snoopy and Snuffle would become more independent and start playing with the other small dogs in the Lamma house, but although they were all friendly enough the pugs stuck together.   Now we have Archie and Alexi, small-medium terrier types and assumed siblings, and they too are a very close pair who work as a team.  A lot of people have asked about Archie in particular, and both dogs are really very sweet (and child-friendly), but for now at least we'll wait for someone to agree to adopt them together.

Herbie wore a party hat to celebrate

One small dog who arrived as part of a previous group at the end of July and was taken straight home for fostering will never be without a playmate.  Herbie is (we decided) a griffon-chihuahua cross, the size of a chihuahua with the face of a griffon. He was offered temporary care by an ex-volunteer who has a whole family of adopted chihuahuas and knows exactly how to take care of them.  Herbie slotted right into this perfect family, so much so that Claudia finally admitted that it would be impossible to let him go, so she has once again become a Failed Foster.
Herbie will never be alone in this home!

We had a lot of visitors today at all of the venues, and once again there was a certain puppy that many were asking about - except Jack had been adopted on Saturday.  I've mentioned this before, that there seems to be a certain right time for every dog or puppy, and while Jack has been with us for quite a long time in puppy terms, it was only now that so many were interested in adopting him.  I've shared his photos several times without any enquiries coming as a result, so what can I say except to wonder who will be next?

Asher is off the available list

One of the disappointed potential adopters for Jack who had been planning to come today to get him, instead chose another terrier-type puppy, Asher, one of the recent group of smaller puppies now staying at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre.  They were all quite shy on arrival, but are getting better every day.
Poppy found her family today

Poppy was also one of today's lucky puppies, and even though it took a while for her to find her forever family I'm sure she will think it was worth the wait.

Mojo is one of many fantastic puppies available

Jimmy Tsang was our photographer at the Whiskers N Paws party, and I'm sure you already know the photos are going to be wonderful when you see Jimmy's name.  Here they are, and please let us know if you want to meet any of them during the week:  Puppy Adoption Day 4th Sept 2022.  The puppies have so much fun on the terrace that even if they don't find homes they must look forward to Sundays and the two hours of non-stop play.
