Sat 3rd Sept: Dogs on the move

Adam is too big for the Elgin space

This will probably be the last weekend for the dogs at our HKDR@Elgin location, hopefully for some because they'll be adopted, while others will be moved either to the Kennedy Town Homing Centre or the Lamma Home for Small Dogs.  One reason for moving the dogs out is because we have a Positive Partners training course starting next Friday, and the other is because the space is difficult to operate from, not actually having been intended to be used as a home for dogs.  Siblings Archie and Alexi easily climb the barriers and wander freely in the shop at night, and the same for larger Adam, although I think he stays downstairs.

The CCTV captured the escape artists making a break for freedom, and you can see how easy it was for them.  These dogs are very smart and don't like to be confined, and to be honest I also hate seeing dogs having to be kept in pens like this so a move to a home (or Lamma) will be good for them.

Funny boys Snoopy and Snuffle

Three dogs are due to leave the Lamma house anyway, so that will make space if needed for some of the HKDR@Elgin dogs, probably the shy ones.  Pug brothers Snoopy and Snuffle will be setting off on Sunday for their new home together, while Donny the shiba will also be moving out in the next few days.

Dudley has a home!

I don't know if it had anything to do with the fact that I wrote about doglet Dudley the other day, saying how sad I was that he was still waiting for a home, but he was adopted today by a Tai Po volunteer who had got to know him on her regular visits to the Homing Centre.  Obviously I'm really happy to see Dudley finally leaving, and with someone who has already built a relationship with him.

Jack and his family

Puppy Jack was chosen from our Kennedy Town Homing Centre, so he'll obviously miss Sunday's Puppy Party at Whiskers N Paws.  There'll be lots of others to choose from though, as well as those who'll stay behind at Kennedy Town.  These are the newest intake, smaller sized and very lovely, if a little bit timid at the moment (but getting better every day).

These puppies are staying at Kennnedy Town

We had an in-and-out surrender today of a young French bulldog, who I called Nancy but she may already have another new name.  The family who took her home had been waiting for a dog like this so I was able to line up Nancy's arrival with her adopters coming to pick her up almost immediately.  If only all adoptions were so quick and easy.

Nancy was in and out
