Sat 10th July: Adoption and donation

I'm kicking off today's post with happy adoptions because that's the most important news of all, and I know it's what everyone loves to read about.

I've been waiting for Teezil's big day

I've been waiting a little less than patiently for funny little Teezil to find the perfect home, and today was that special day.   Just as a reminder, and in case you didn't even know, Teezil came as part of a litter, plus spares, of small-sized puppies who turned out to be infected with the distemper virus.  One by one they died, and we were really struggling to contain the infection as well as keep the survivors safe.  There's no reason why some puppies in a litter or group remain unaffected when all others get sick other than luck or very strong immune systems, but there were three of them; Teezil, Tucker and Toggle.  After Teezil's adoption today only shy Tucker is left, and he needs a home with another dog to bring him out of his timid world.
Giovanna going home

Giovanna was next to go home, following her sister Ursula's earlier adoption.

Portia got lucky today

Puppy Portia was the third puppy, a very lucky girl to have been chosen out of so many hopefuls.

The others will be at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday, 2pm to 4pm, or waiting at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre any other day or time if you want to meet them there.  Please be sure to complete the adoption questionnaire in advance if you're interested: www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

We're all crazy about Hazel

We're all in love with the new girl at Tai Po, whose name is now Hazel.  She's the one from the North West New Territories who lost her home when everyone from that area was relocated, but I know she doesn't have to worry about finding a new family.

Our storage bins are overflowing!

Hazel was immediately spotted by the Buddy Bites team when they came to deliver another huge donation of food, 700kg to be exact, which is an amazing amount and such an incredible help to us with so many dogs to feed.

It takes a team to move so much food

This is all thanks to adopters and supporters who buy Buddy Bites for their own dogs and by doing so get a donation made to HKDR.  "Buddy Bites is a Hong Kong based, subscription dog food service. It could not be simpler! All handled online, let us know how much your dog needs, how often they need it, and we take care of the rest! With every 2kg ordered we donate 1kg to an HK shelter! " Check out their website https://www.buddybites.dog/ for details, or https://www.facebook.com/buddybiteshk
