Sun 5th Jan: Black puppy day

Mikki (l) and Rennie
The three new dogs were delivered in the morning, thanks once again to Kaz of Freedom Rides for her time and petrol money (all this driving back and forth adds up, and Kaz offers her services on a purely voluntary basis).  Two of the small dogs were dropped at Ap Lei Chau, then the young husky girl went to Tai Po.   She's a year old, small-sized for her breed and has a leg that seems to have been broken at some point and has healed badly.  Dr Tony will take a look at it on Tuesday to see what can be done. We'll be looking for a foster home in case she needs surgery, which is likely.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help with this.
The new husky girl is very sweet and small-sized

We had a busy afternoon at Whiskers N Paws, and thanks to regular volunteer photographer Jimmy Tsang for the lovely set of photos  Puppy Adoption Day 5 January 2020   Little Kayak had his adoption paperwork completed while his brother Tiller was taken for fostering, and hopefully  that will also become permanent.
Kayak is formally adopted

Merlin moved from foster to a new forever home, while one of the two baby first-timers also left his foster home to see how ex-HKDR Yoda takes to having a little brother.

Cynthia was another lucky girl as she too joins an ex-HKDR dog in her new home, and having a big brother or sister as a mentor makes the transition to a different life and home so much easier.
Cynthis has a big brother waiting for her

It was only as I was writing this post that I realised that it was a great day for black puppies. Merlin, Kayak, Tiller and Cynthia are all black, and only baby sharpei Wilf was the odd one out.

  1. How wonderful for the 3 black puppies! Such great news. Until you said, I didn't see Kayak in the photo. XXX
