Sun 12th Jan: Come early to choose

Nancy has her family now
Thankfully the weather was fine so we were able to be outside on the terrace for the puppy afternoon at Whiskers N Paws, and it was a busy three hours especially as most of the regular volunteers weren't able to be there.  We did however have two volunteer photographers, Laura Nie and Christine Dutka  Puppy Adoption Day 12 January 2020 - Part 2  and Christine Dutka
Puppy Adoption Day 12 January 2020 - Part 1   to record the beautiful puppies and their games, and I'm always happy and grateful for the help.  Since we don't post the young puppies on our website as they grow and change so quickly, these albums are what we use to show and promote the available puppies.

Nancy was the only puppy formally adopted, and no surprises there as she's so lovely, but Tiller who was taken home last Sunday had his adoption confirmed and another one his siblings went to a foster home today, hopefully with the same result. As a litter the "Boat Puppies" are all lovely, not only in looks but in temperament too.  Nancy's adopters are first time dog owners, like many of the families who come to choose a puppy, and while there is always a certain amount of nervousness and hesitation, the fact that both Cactus (and I) are always there to provide advice and support has helped all of these adopters through the first weeks.

Santa is all trained and ready to go
As always I suggest to first-time adopters especially that they consider the slightly older puppies rather than the babies, as you can see more of the personality and eventual size (even though size is pretty hard to determine to be honest).  Puppies like siblings Georgia and Bamboo, Santa, and others that are four to five months are still young and very adaptable, and very easy as they are already old enough to go out walking and are pretty much trained in most things.  All of the hard work has already been done, and all that's left is for you to offer a home.
Georgia and Bamboo are very sweet and gentle puppies

It was just as busy at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre as it was at Whiskers N Paws, and Iris was still there and dealing with potential adopters at six thirty, which is way past closing time.  It's a long day anyway for the Homing Centre staff, so please, if you're interested in adopting come early so you can spend time with the dogs.  In the end I asked Iris to close the Centre and ask everyone to leave, because there's still work to be done in settling all the dogs and puppies in for the night and making sure everyone has what they need.

Lindy is just a small girl
Charlie the poodle went home for a trial and Midge will be leaving too, but there were so many people that normally friendly dogs like Lindy just wanted to be left alone and retreated.  There's only so many walks to the dog park with potential adopters that any dog can handle, so again please come early if you're genuinely interested in taking a dog home.   Lindy is a very sweet girl, young and small so very much in demand and still available.
