Sat 11th Jan: The Chinese New Year effect

Mia going home
Our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre was like a magnet today, drawing in potential adopters one after the other.  In the end when everything finally went quiet only Mia had actually been adopted, but there was a lot of interest in other dogs which will hopefully end with them going home.  We're already seeing the effects of Chinese New Year coming up and the inevitable holidays arranged, so it's frustrating when there's a perfect match of dog and adopter but they can't take just yet.  It's too soon to introduce the same "adopt now-take home later" scheme we used over Christmas, but we might start that close to the holiday period.

Sunday is, of course, Whiskers N Paws puppy day, and just to give advance notice since I'm talking about Chinese New Year holidays, the Sunday during that period will be the only time that there won't be an adoption afternoon at Whiskers N Paws but you can still meet the puppies at our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre.  We open every single day of the year, no exceptions, at both Tai Po and Ap Lei Chau Homing Centres, and registered dog walking volunteers are more than welcome any time.  If you're interested in becoming a volunteer and you're over 18 years old, you can find all the information at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/volunteer/
Tiger and Rio are the two current residents at Whiskers N Paws

Again thinking ahead to Chinese New Year and Whiskers N Paws being closed, if anyone can foster the two resident puppies, currently Tiger and Rio, for even just those few days it would be a great help.  Let me know if you're interested by emailing me at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com, or talk to me on Sunday afternoon.
