Fri 15th March: A rather strange puppy situation

Lizzie sleeps through every adoption afternoon
We're in the frustrating situation of having lots of up-and-coming young puppies, still too young to safely attend an adoption afternoon, and plenty of older ones of around five months, but nothing much in between.  Barney is still not fully up to scratch with his tick fever, and Angelo has some fear-based behaviour that we need to address, meaning he becomes nervous in public situations.  Lizzie needs to be adopted directly from the Homing Centre as she is also a timid girl when she's unsure, and she tries to hide herself or sleeps, a kind of blocking-out technique.  At the Homing Centre she's sweet and happy and not at all how she behaves at Whiskers N Paws.

Mimsy has grown into a wonderful older puppy
Looking on the bright side this means our slightly older puppies will have a better chance of being noticed, and they come with the added bonus of being fully vaccinated, licensed and toilet trained, in other words fully ready to go.

Pug-cross Twiggy was picked up from Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre today and we'll all miss her funny and adorable character.  I think she was born to make people laugh and I'm so very happy she escaped from the awful breeder and a life of hell.   Like all of the dogs from that breeder Twiggy needed a lot of repair work, including having one eye removed, but she's fine now. The only things that still concerns me, as well as the others involved, is that we know there are many more at that place urgently in need of help and there's nothing we can do.
