Weds 11th July: Overload again

Volunteer Harryn takes great photos of the Ap Lei Chau residents
We have a new intake of dogs coming on Thursday, and while I'm not worried about the adults - all small sized except one young labrador - there will be another five puppies in the group who will be needing a place to stay. This time of year is never a good one for homing puppies as so many people take their annual holidays during summer, so once again I'm pinning my hopes on foster homes and Sunday's Whiskers N Paws afternoon, which will probably be an indoor event this time.  It's not just that rain is forecast because they get it wrong so many times, it's more the sun and the heat which knocks both puppies and humans out.  So if you're thinking about adopting a puppy please don't be put off by the weather as it won't affect us at all.  You can also visit our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre every day of the week to see both puppies and smaller-sized dogs available for adoption.
All these puppies need homes or fosters

The 2 Yorkies are female, estimated to be around 5 years old
The other dogs in the Thursday group are a bichon frise, poodle, Scottie and two Yorkies, all female and relatively young, plus the male labrador, and I hope that the Scottish terrier at least has a home to go to.  If you are interested in adopting any of them please complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt) before asking for more details or to arrange a visit. It's much easier and better for us to be able to assess whether a dog is going to be suitable in adavance, and to recommendd others if not, rather than waste everyone's time by having to say no, this dog isn't suitable, on site.

We also have a beautiful new dog at Tai Po that I forgot to mention before, a large and very handsome youg male who is now called Oreo because he's black and white.  He had been spotted for several days in a row wandering in a car park with a big wound on his rear end, so when he was brought to us (without any micrrochip) I agreed to take him in. Oreo is not only a very lovely dog in terms of looks, he is also a very sweet and happy character, eager to play with the other dogs and to be petted by humans.
