Sat 7 July: Three show poodles

Lena was adopted today
As expected the golden retriever girl Lena was adopted today, and she joins one of our ex-HKDR poodles in her new home.  Thanks to everyone who asked about Lena and the many offers she had, and please do come and meet the other lovely dogs that are waiting for homes too.  Just because a dog doesn't have a breed label it doesn't mean they are less worthy of love, or less loyal and loving.
A young Diamond showing what the current puppies will grow to look like

I would like to mention the two "Black Diamond" puppies again now, because although not a real breed they are gorgeous to look at and very sweet.  If the previous black fluffies are anything to go by, including my own beautiful Diamond, these puppies will grow into very special dogs.  You can meet Jet and Diamond at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday afternoon along with all of our other puppies, or any other day at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre until they are adopted.
Cheryl left for her new life today

Another one of  our non-breed dogs is Cheryl, who today left the Tai Po Homing Centre to start her own new family life, so thank you to her adopter for choosing a "Hong Kong Special".

One of the 3 poodle brothers
Over at Ap Lei Chau the three show poodles arrived, all looking very clean and smart because that was their job, to win prizes for their looks.  We were told they were unwanted, at a year old each, because they wouldn't stand still for the judging, so good for them.  As our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre Manager Iris told me, she gave up the grooming competitions because these poor dogs are used as objects, kept in cages all their lives and just brought out for grooming purposes.  So although very pretty, adopters will probably have to start from scratch when it comes to training.  I called the three boys Snowy, Icy and Frostie, and if you are interested in adopting please complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt).
