Weds 20th Dec: Open for business every day over Christmas

There has a been a surprising pre-Christmas rush for dogs, which is fine as long as they are going to stay for ever and not just the holidays, and of course we make sure that puppies aren't being adopted as children's gifts.   Just as a reminder, Whiskers N Paws will be open this coming Sunday, Christmas Eve, as well as New Year's Eve, so there's time to come and choose the new family member before the year ends.   There are also the baby pups, now five weeks old, who can be adopted as long as they are taken in pairs.  The pair that are still with me will be moving into a foster home tomorrow, and not a moment too soon as they are growing like weeds and desperate to escape the confines of their desktop cage.  I feel terrible that they have had to stay there as long as they have, but some things can't be helped.   If you are interested in adopting these puppies (there are eight of them) please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com to arrange.

While most places will be closed over the holidays, our Homing Centres at Tai Po and Ap Lei Chau will remain open for dog walking and adoptions every single day of the year.  In fact we encourage registered volunteers to take advantage of their days off from work to take the dogs out for the day, or for hiking, to give them a welcome break from their usual routine.

Anfield is right!

Beatrice and Eugenie are very sweet girls

We had a surprise "gift" at Tai Po today when another one of the pointer puppies was brought to us, this time a female.  These puppies are around six months old now, and although we now know the brother has hip dysplasia we will have to have the girls checked  to see if she is similarly affected.  Dr Tony will be X-raying the boy next week and surgery on both hips is almost certain to be necessary, but the good news is that once done the problem will be solved.

The pointer sister arrived after dark today
