Tues 25th Oct: What's up WhatsApp?

It was one of those "nothing happening" days today, or at least in terms of interesting things to write about since in reality there's never a day that isn't busy. There are always dogs and puppies that need to see a vet, either for tests and diagnosis, surgery or vaccinations, so the van is always coming or going, especially since we have four locations on Hong Kong Island and the Tai Po Homing Centre, with three different vet clinics that we regularly use. The fact that WhatsApp was down for a few hours didn't help, even though it was quite a relief when I realised it wasn't just my phone that was refusing to work. When I think back to the early days of HKDR when there was no such thing as a Smartphone and no social media, I wonder how we ever managed to contact potential adopters or keep in touch with anyone. Remembering that my dog rescue efforts started long before HKDR was even an idea, let alone a reality, I used to place ads in HK Dollarsaver, the four-page publication that was, I believe, the only English language opportunity to buy or sell directly.

Two more puppies, Carla and Coral, were returned from their foster home to join the many others at our Kennedy Town Homing Centre. You can see the list of available puppies below, and there's a lot of them!

Sparky

On Friday we'll also be sending the three dogs still remaining at HKDR@Elgin to our Kennedy Town Centre, not only to give Cam a break but also to allow puppy Skittle and young adult Sparky to meet and play with other dogs and puppies.

Skittle should have been adopted by now but he's become Sparky's only friend and playmate. With so many other puppies at Kennedy Town to take his place, Sparky won't be lonely when Skittle leaves.
