Kitty is adopted, Krissy is available |
Although the Whiskers N Paws puppy party couldn't take place this weekend we have many puppies in foster homes that are available for adoption. Two of these were sisters Kitty and Krissy, until today when Kitty was chosen to go to her new forever home. Edward is another beautiful puppy boy who was surrendered to us along with his now-adopted brothers, and unusually we know what the mother looks like.

There are so many more who are waiting to meet potential families.
Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, or complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ if you're ready to bring a puppy home.
Taking a dog to a country like Australia takes more time and planning than going to the USA, Canada, Europe or the UK, so we're asking for help for one particular ex-HKDR dog and his family. They are having to leave Hong Kong immediately, and have made all the arrangements to take Tara with them but this takes time. We need a foster home for Tara for six months (approximately) and the costs of food etc will be covered. Please email me directly at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can help keep this family and dog together.
Edward's mother |
With many families choosing to leave Hong Kong at the moment there's a mad scramble for flights for both people and their pets, and we're getting a lot of requests for help and information. We can't do anything directly, but I was referred to this company who have all the details about how to arrange flights and what needs to be done to prepare your dogs (or other pets). If you do choose to use Petdex Pet Relocation please mention that you were referred by HKDR and Petdex will make a donation accordingly.
There is also a new Facebook group offering and asking for flight volunteers to help everyone trying to get their pets to join them when they leave Hong Kong.
"Hello, I just wanted you to know that I have started a group on Facebook called "Hong Kong Flight Volunteers for Pets" in the hope of helping pet owners relocate their animals, and also encourage owners to not abandon their pets during this difficult time. We are almost up to 400 members now which I hope means there is a chance people can find solutions if something goes wrong in flight coordinations. Many flights are being cancelled or have not been able to enter HK for a long time, so I hope this can also be a great safety network to help people connect. Please feel free to join or tell people who might be having a hard time figuring out how to relocate with their animal. Thank you for all the great work you do!"
Please note that we have no financial affilation with any group or company, our only aim is to try to make sure that as many dogs as possible aren't left behind. We have previously referred people to www.internationalpettravel.com to help with pet relocation, and that recommendation still applies but you need to explore every avenue as all of these companies are overwhelmed. Private charter flights are another option, but the group I previously mentioned who were trying to arrange a large flight to the UK failed to get the project off the ground (literally and figuratively) as costs kept escalating.
"Tara is about 20kg. Such a special dog. Very caring and can read human emotions amazingly well". |
