Medium-sized Nola in her foster home |
After the call for cold weather foster homes for our Tai Po dogs, we also started to move the dogs and puppies out of our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to prepare for the relocation to Kennedy Town. Packing up of everything else that can be moved is also underway, so anyone visiting the Homing Centre will find bags filling the entrance, and far fewer dogs than we normally have staying there.
Of the dogs that stayed upstairs Plum and Nola have gone to foster homes, while cocker spaniel Phaedra and shiba inu Goji remain. These two dogs need a particular kind of home as they have their own behaviour challenges, so we really hope that the right adopters will come along just in time.
Phaedra |
Phaedra is actually a very sweet dog who loves her toys, but she barks loudly at strangers so she can't go to a highrise complex or a busy area where she will pass lots of people when out walking. She would love to live in the countryside where she can enjoy long walks, and swimming if possible (all spaniels love swimming).
Goji |
Goji doesn't like other dogs, so people aren't the issue with him, but again it would be difficult to have a dog like Goji if you lived in a building where there were other dogs. He would also love a home with a garden, and in a more remote area.
A lot of dogs will blossom given the kind of environment that suits them, and I'm happy to report that scruffy terrier River is really happy after moving to the Lamma Home for Small dogs. She's loving the garden (weather permitting) and playing with her dog friends, some of whom she already knew from the Homing Centre. Blanche and Brandy are always together, and unless we find a foster home for the two remaining "Crickets" currently still at Ap Lei Chau, Blake and Bumpy, they will also move to Lamma.
All of these dogs and many more are available for adoption, and you can find their details on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com/dogs/Now for the adoption news, starting with older puppy Lacey who won the hearts of her new family.

Foster dog Winfrey will be staying with her family and flying to Canada in March. Luckily a flight space was found so rather than needing a new home Winfrey is now adopted!

Trundle-now-Linus and buddy |
I'd already mentioned puppy Trundle's adoption, but I wanted to share this sweet photo of him and his new friend. Puppies get on well with pretty much anyone and anything, but it's usually the four-legged animals that come to mind.
