I've said it many times before but I still marvel at the speed at which puppies grow, and how their respective foster homes do such an amazing job at hand-rearing them from the time they're rescued as newborns. I've done my fair share of bottle-feeding babies in the past and remember how tiring and often frustrating it can be, but also how rewarding to watch the puppies thrive. Now we have foster parents to take on that task, and some of them have done it many times over, accepting new orphans as previous pups are adopted. I take my hat off to them, I really do, as they have literally saved the precious lives of so many litters, and given the puppies the best start in life. All of these rescued puppies were born to stray mothers, so the chance of survival in the wild is really very low, and even those that make it to adulthood lead very sad, difficult and short lives. Those newborns taken from such situations grow up learning that humans are their "mothers", their security and their friends, so when they move on to their new forever homes they're as happy and well socialised youngsters.
Sunday is once again Whiskers N Paws puppy afternoon, and it's an opportunity to meet other foster puppies in one place. This week we're expecting the "L" litter of Lily, Luther, Lucy and Lola, "B" puppy Bliss, Charlie and Cressie, Alison. The remaining @typhoon_k_puppies Kong, Kooper and Kip won't be attending but you can meet them at their foster home by arranngement, as well as the Puddle aka Loki in his foster home. Please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com to arrange.
Current Whiskers N Paws resident puppies Lorna (another "L" girl) and Willow will also be there of course.
We would normally be sending some of our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre puppies to join the party, but unfortunately our driver Ming has injured his hand and is on light duties only (meaning no heavy lifting). You can still meet the puppies at the Homing Centre from 10am to 6pm, on Sunday and any other day of the week.
