Weds 14th April: A haircut and a home

Johnson got a haircut and a home

Lucky poodle boy Johnson was adopted today, and like so many other dogs who are surrendered to us his new home is a massive upgrade from his last, and I'm not only talking about the space but the fact that he'll get proper exercise as well as attention.   I'm not saying that all surrendered dogs come from bad homes as that's not true, but it certainly is for Johnson.

Frito as a new boy 2 months ago

The small dogs get a lot of adoption enquiries, or at least most of them do.  For some reason our senior Sheltie boy Frito seems to have gone unnoticed so far, and even though he's fourteen years old he's a very happy and sweet boy whose health and condition has improved immensely since he came to us from AFCD.  At that time he was very skinny and with a sparse coat, and while he seems happy enough with his life at the Homing Centre it would be wonderful if he could have his own family.

I also mentioned a young (two year-old) shiba inu that we had a surrender request for, and yes it's the same reason as all the other shibas, namely food guarding.  I feel so sorry for these dogs being so popular yet so misunderstood, and while I'm always recommending that familes with children don't consider the breed, if there is any home willing to work with our trainer Cactus to get this particular shiba back on track with her behaviour please let us know by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Damson has been with us since she was 8 months old

Due to the fact that I've got to know two shibas quite well, namely King (five years old) and Damson (just three) who are both on Lamma, I understand that they're very smart dogs who can be great companions if they have the right home and environment.  Small apartments with no mental stimulation or companionship is a disaster for these dogs, but I want to help find the right home if I can.

Of course there are lots of puppies waiting for homes too, and you can see their photos and videos here: https://www.facebook.com/HKDR.DOGGIES
