Tues 13th April: There are always new dogs arriving

As always it was a full day with lots going on, part of which was getting the donated Bowl and Bowls food distributed from the Tai Po Homing Centre where it was all initially delivered.  It wasn't until the end of the afternoon that I was able to test it on my Lamma dogs and it disappeared as soon as it hit the ground, with the same reported from Ap Lei Chau, so I can say they definitely loved it.

5 years old

For whatever reason we suddenly seem to be getting a lot more surrender requests for small dogs (and larger), some of which I've already mentioned although the two poodles didn't have names at the time.  Now Johnson has also had a much needed haircut so he looks much better, but he's still quite nervous so we're not recommending him for a home with children.  Senior boy Joseph is very sweet, while we also still have Titus who is so very cute but again not suitable for a home with children or inexperienced adopters

Joseph is 14 years old

The long-haired dachshund is available any time so we'll arrange for him to be brought over as soon as there's a suitable home offered.

Dachshund Hunter is 7 years old

Another five year-old poodle is due to come on Friday, with two corgis arriving on Saturday.  As always it may be that these dogs don't turn up, as happened once again today when yet another poodle was suddenly given to someone else, so I won't share photos just yet.

We also have new dogs arriving at our Tai Po Homing Centre, and again details will be shared as and when they turn up.  One is a TNR (Trap, Neuter and Return) doglet, so that one seems to be pretty sure to arrive with many thanks to the volunteers who carry out such important and difficult work.  Of all the things that make such a difference and which the HKSAR Government should really be spending their time and money on, it's catching and desexing the many hundreds of stray dogs that are living wild in the countryside.  Rather than be inundated constantly with unwanted litters of puppies, our local Hong Kong dogs should be rare and sought-after, with waiting list of adopters.  Can you imagine how amazing that would be?

Big and beautiful Sadie

There's also great news about one of our Tai Po dogs who'll be heading off to her new home any moment.  Sadie the German shepherd has been waiting a long time because of her large size, strength and reactivity to other dogs when out walking, but we all feel she's finally been offered a suitable family and environment.  I also think that once settled in a home Sadie's behaviour will improve, even though she's already lovely with people and fine with dogs she knows.

If you're interested in meeting any of our available dogs and puppies please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/
