Sat 9th May: Taylor is back and Dory goes home

Taylor in the trap at last
The big news is that runaway dog Taylor has been caught and is now back in her home, along with the appropriate collar, harness and double leash which will hopefully ensure this will never happen again.
Hong Kong summers are far too hot for huskies

It was a busy day for the staff at both Homing Centres today, with quite a few potential adopters coming to meet the dogs and puppies.  For many making the final choice is hard as there are so many dogs available, at least at our Tai Po site, so there's often several visits required before the lucky one goes home.  Today it was Dory who said goodbye to the place she has known as home since coming to us some time ago, and for a husky the timing couldn't have been better as temperatures are already so high.

I have to keep replying to those families who are looking for small adult dogs or puppies that since the coronavirus situation started we haven't been getting the dogs coming in as we used to.  I can only assume this is because so many people have been staying at home and have the time to look after their pets that they aren't getting rid of them as they might normally do, so we will have to see what happens once schools and offices re-open and there's no one left to take care of the animals.

In a way it's like the best thing that can happen, a day when there are no dogs needing rescuing, but it's only the little ones that have stopped coming in, not the larger sizes.  So for now there's no retirement on the horizon and no sign that HKDR isn't needed any more, so please keep checking in.
