However there's one thing which is out of our control, and that's the outside factors which have affected our donations and funding for too long, and this income is what keeps HKDR going and allows us to rescue and take care of the hundreds of dogs that rely on us. Starting with the protests and social unrest last year which meant us having to cancel or adjust our major fundraisers, such as Peak to Fong which has always been so important, and now the current coronavirus situation, the impact of such external events is having a serious effect.
Peak to Fong became a much smaller Pulse to Fun (it was still great though!) |
There's no question of us being able to cut down on expenses as we run on a tight budget anyway, with a small paid staff being supported by invaluable volunteers, many of whom are now not able to come and help at our main Tai Po Homing Centre meaning a double workload for everyone else. The dogs still need feeding, there are essential vet visits which can't be skipped, and cleaning of the Homing Centres is even more important now than it ever was.

I fully appreciate that many individuals and businesses have also suffered during this very difficult period so are no longer able to donate in the way they used to, which is why we're appealing to everyone who is in a position to help to do so by making a minimal donation of just $100, or more if possible of course. There's no gimmick or game attached, just a straightforward and heartfelt request on behalf of our dogs for support to get us through these very challenging times.
If you would like to make a donation please use this link https://hongkongdogrescue.com/donate/one-off-donations/ or simply make a transfer to our HSBC account 502-423825-001 (Hong Kong Dog Rescue).
Receipts will be issued if requested and it goes without saying that we are all immensely grateful for all and any support given.
Thank you.
Just donated through the normal donate button. We adopted Kaya in 2011 and fostered Ruthie but unfortunately weren’t able to adopt her. Kaya moves to Singapore and eventually the US and has since welcomed three (human) sisters into the world. Thank you for your work in saving all these animals!
