Sat 14th March: Every day is Adoption Day at HKDR

Rose became Jordan when she was adopted today
What a glorious day it was today, and hopefully Sunday will be the same so we can all enjoy the afternoon on the terrace at Whiskers N Paws.  Remember you can also have a delicious lunch there too, a coffee or cold drink while you think about which puppy you'll be taking home,  but it won't be Rose, the last of her litter who was adopted today.

Toby can't leave just yet but he has a home confirmed

Toby the Clumber spaniel also has his new home confirmed, although we're still waiting for his formal release from AFCD so he has to stay at the Homing Centre until that happens, hopefully next week.  At least he can enjoy his favourite thing while he's with us, and that's tennis balls.  He loves chasing and catching them so it's easy to keep him entertained and happy.

Prudence  can start her life afresh
At least one of the Tai Po dogs will be heading off on Sunday with her new family, and I can tell you that it's Prudence because the adoption paperwork has already been completed. Like almost all of our HKDR dogs Prudence has a story, and I remember her so well from her days at Pokfulam AFCD because she was another one of those caught in the paperwork procedure nightmare.  She had to wait a long time before I was finally allowed to take her out, and when she subsequently went to be desexed she was found to be pregnant.  Obviously the desexing meant no puppies were born, and Prudence could start her life again free from the burden of any future unwanted litters.   Now the waiting is over and there's a home waiting to welcome Prudence on Sunday so I can share the going home photo on Monday.

Prudence is a lovely girl, like so many of our also-lovely Tai Po dogs who are waiting for homes.  Just as I wonder why it took so long for Prudence to be chosen, I feel the same about too many others who are young, good-looking and have no health or behaviour issues.  Please visit any day and take a look for yourself, and I do mean any day of the year because every day is adoption day at HKDR.
