Fri 1st Feb: Puppies and presents

Tiny little puppies that look like kittens
Even though next Monday is still a working day I imagine a lot of people have already left Hong Kong for their Chinese New Year holiday, so they will miss out on the chance to adopt one of the tiny babies that arrived late this afternoon.  These little "pixie pups" are a mix of we-don't-know-what, but they will be small sized adults for sure.  If you are interested in adopting any of our dogs or puppies please complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt) as a first step.

Although the HKDR van was  needed elsewhere meaning I didn't use it myself, it was still a busy day for everyone else with an emergency case from Tai Po and the sorting out of the huge donation from Whiskers N Paws as a part of their Christmas Operation Santa Paws campaign.  The puppies were very happy to have a load of new toys to play with, and I have the same for my Lamma dogs as well as new beds and lots of treats.  Of course the dogs at Tai Po also have some lovely surprises on the way, which following today's case we just hope they won't be swallowing whole.

Paisley has been eating something that's not food
German shepherd girl Paisley hadn't been eating recently and was losing weight, so she was sent to Acorn for checking as an emergency before the holidays.  Dr Seems called me and said there was a hard mass in the abdomen, so I agreed to exploratory surgery with the possibility that Paisley had a tumour and would be euthanised while still asleep.  Luckily it turned out to be a lump of towel, bedding or similar, which was removed, and Paisley should make a full recovery, but we may need to restrict her access to things other than food which she can chew and swallow.

Saturday is puppy afternoon at Concordia Pet Care so you can meet our lovely candidates there, while the very young ones will stay behind at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre in case you are able to foster a pair.  Please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com for information.

Please don't forget that we also have many puppies as well as the adult dogs at our Tai Po Homing Centre so you don't need to travel over to Ap Lei Chau if you are looking for a new family member.
