Alison and Felix at Whiskers N Paws (before we even had travel crates)
I was very happily surprised myself to see Alison and Jersey on the Tai Po list, even though I had been told they would be leaving Hong Kong with their volunteer-adopter very soon.  It seems everything has already been signed and paid for, so finally "my" two girls will be in their long-awaited home before too long.  This was an unlucky litter as they must have come at the wrong time of year, so Alison, Jersey, Felix and Jinks (on Lamma) were never chosen, and only the small sister, Cara, was adopted.  Every time I visited the Tai Po Homing Centre the three that lived there greeted me with happy kisses, as though having been there only a short time.  I felt so sad that they had still not been chosen so now, finally, I can let go of those feelings, for the two girls Jersey and Alison at least.  Jinks is fine and happy on Lamma, so now it must surely be the right time for Felix.

Poodle-cross Cherry was adopted today
Recently surrendered Cherry was adopted today from Ap Lei Chau, while our sweet still-bald-but-changing chihuahua Turbo was taken for a trial to see how he and the resident ex-HKDR chihuahua get on.  Turbo is such a lovely boy that I can't envisage any problems from his side, but we'll have to see how it goes before we can confirm.
All was fine until the new wife, baby and  labrador puppy came along
Good luck Turbo!

I'd like to think of it as karmic retribution, but what I understand to be a true story doing the rounds is sad for everyone, most of all a dog, adopted from HKDR as a puppy then sent to be killed when a new wife and labrador puppy took her place.  It was an unforgivable act of selfishness and cruelty as the ex-HKDR dog, just a year old, had been offered a place to go, but the husband was too arrogant and pig-headed to accept.  Instead he chose to have the dog killed to make space for the new family members, and the ironic twist is that the labrador, bought for a ridiculous amount of money from a breeder, is now herself being posted on Facebook as needing a new home "for personal reasons".  Of course as a breed I'm sure the labrador has already been snapped up, and it's too late to save the doesn't-matter-mongrel as she is already dead, but this man deserves all the abuse Facebook has to offer.
