Sun 10th Sept: It's poodle time again

I'm waiting for the photos from the Whiskers N Paws session to be uploaded, but I can tell you that rather than adoptions (remembering that both Navy and Nero left during the week), there was a switch of puppies staying as full time guests.  Little Paxton has returned to Kennedy Town while Tim and Todd will be joining big Usko at the store, so you can meet them there any day of the week, not only on Sundays.

Lovely lucky Jilly

Twiggy went to foster the day she arrived

There were a couple of foster parents joining the exclusive Failed Foster Club, and this time it was Jilly, and little poodle Twiggy who had their full family membership confirmed.  Twiggy came as one of four tiny ex-breeder poodles, all of whom needed leg and/or knee surgery, so it was a very expensive intake. All have fully recovered now and have found their forever homes.

Roo makes the perfect companion

There was another very lovely and special poodle adoption, not a foster fail but moving from a wonderful foster home to a very kind new family.  Tiny senior Roo came to us as one of a large group several months ago, and he subsequently had most of his teeth removed, and an eye which was always painful. Despite his age and losing one eye, Roo was so happy and full of life, and now he has been chosen to be a much-loved family member.

Laura weighs only 2kg

There was another surprise poodle intake today when someone walked into the Kennedy Town Centre to surrender a tiny six month-old poodle girl, now called Laura.  The owner was leaving Hong Kong to go back to China, and had obviously bought the poodle on a whim one day, just as you would a pair of shoes.  Now she no longer had any use for the dog, and just handed it over.

Banksy is now Bear

Banksy was another lovely young curly-coated bichon puppy who came to us only on Friday, and he was adopted today.  We also have Nutty, a one year-old poodle boy who was one of a smuggling case, and he's also a very sweet boy.

If you like poodles or bichon frise we have so many available.  Please start by completing the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/ before coming to meet them.
Nutty was shaved after arriving in a mess

Over at the Tai Po Homing Centre I was very happy to know that Samoyed Brady had been taken to a new home.  He's also a lovely dog, very typical of his breed (excitable).

We don't know Brady's story

So many people ask us for the dogs' stories, their history and background, but unless they came to us as young puppies we rarely have any idea what their past is, or how they came to be homeless.  Taking the poodle puppy as an example, often there doesn't seem to be any good reason, it's just that humans can be fickle and selfish at times and the dogs are the innocent victims.
