Dino was the winner today |
It's good to be able to write about adoptions, especially when we always have new dogs arriving at both of our Homing Centre locations. Today it was Kennedy Town where the lucky ones were staying, and I know it's hard to make a final decision on which dog to take home because there are so many to choose from. Many potential adopters have to make several visits before finally picking "the one", so Dino was really very lucky to be that boy today.
Nero was adopted at Whiskers N Paws |
Also leaving from Whiskers N Paws, just a day after his sister Navy was taken home, was puppy Nero. I should mention that this Sunday's Puppy Party will be only a small gathering due to the ongoing rain, meaning no playtime on the terrace.
Of course our Homing Centres remain open every single day regardless of the weather, so you can meet the small and medium-sized dogs at Kennedy Town, and the medium to large at Tai Po.
The new arrivals have names now, although we're still waiting to get an appointment for them to have their health checks. Banksy is the youngest, a ten month-old bichon frise, and I should also mention another young poodle who came from AFCD recently, and who has been in a temporary home (that's why he looks so smart in his photo). Nutty was a smuggled puppy who spent months at AFCD, but he'll be back at our Kennedy Town North Street Centre on Sunday.
Of course the young poodles are always popular, so we will choose the homes that we think can offer the best life. Just because dogs are small doesn't mean they don't need proper exercise, and poodles are high-energy dogs with a brain that needs to be stimulated and kept busy. They're also emotionally very needy for attention, so they often don't make the best dogs to be with young children. Remember too that poodles and bichon frise need regular grooming or their coat quickly becomes matted, so all round they are quite high maintenance.
