With no confirmed adoptions to write about today, I'd like to answer questions about in-kind donations that we're often asked about, meaning anything that's not actually money. Of course money donations are always welcome, and you can take a look at the different ways to donate at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/donate/
We always need newspaper to use for the puppies' toilet area, so please bring whatever you can to any of our centres at Kennedy Town, Tai Po, Elgin Street or Ap Lei Chau.
Kennedy Town Homing Centre: Shop 4, G/F, Brilliant Court, Sai Hong Lane, No. 28 Praya, Kennedy Town
Tai Po Homing Centre: 6, Shek Lin Road, Tai Po
Headquarters: G/F, Cheong Yue Mansion, 13-19 North Street, Kennedy Town
HKDR@Elgin: G/F, 22 Elgin Street, Central
We can also use towels throughout the year, as well as sheets, however blankets have to be the washable kind and not wool. Pillows and cushions aren't useful because we can't wash them, and the same applies to things like heavy quilts.
We're happy to accept donations of dog food, but not if the bags have already been opened. Treats are also great, although the dogs definitely prefer the meaty ones, not the biscuit type.
We're grateful for any unused medicines for the dogs, and things like shampoo and pee pads (but not diapers).
We rarely need dog coats, but they are useful for the Tai Po dogs when it's very cold. However they need to be the practical kind, and large enough. We can't use coats that are more like dress-up costumes, and we already have plenty of small-sized coats if they're ever needed.
I received an interesting and generous donation the other day, and not really knowing how I can use it I'd like to see if there are any readers who would be interested in buying a brand new Wedgewood tea service, Wild Strawberry design, in the original presentation box. I took a look online at the prices of Wedgewood china and nearly fell off my chair, so hopefully there will be some genuine offers. You can email me at sallyandersen@hongkongdogrescue.com if you would like to be the proud owner of 6 beakers, cream jug, sugar pot, teapot and 6 side plates (20cm).
