Proving that the holiday period is always an exceptionally slow time for adoptions, I'd been wondering why such a lovely and small-sized puppy like Harvey hadn't been snapped up as soon as he arrived. Anyway it was finally his big day today, so anyone who had been thinking about meeting him will have to look for alternatives now.

Two other small dogs, adults this time, have also found their forever homes. One of these is Soybean, a fairly new arrival and a very sweet and calm lady. She came to us with two other lovely young dogs, Sybil and Scooter, and all three were sent to our HKDR@Elgin space at 22 Elgin Street, Soho.

Cam Ng is the manager at Elgin Street, but even she needs some days off as well as help with the dogs, so if you can volunteer some of your time please email elgin@hongkongdogrescue.com. There's always something to do, whether it's cleaning or walking the dogs, or even just being with them and giving them attention.

The other small dog that left (very quietly) was the ex-breeder pug that came to us from AFCD with the three Pekingese. Pickles is a lively girl, and already settling in well with her new family, including her now-brother, another pug.
With peke Squash adopted, we needed a foster home for the male, Gherkin, who had surgery today to remove one blind eye and the excess facial skin which causes so much trouble for these flat-faced dogs. He'll look pretty horrible for a short time, but it only takes a couple of weeks for everything to heal and then it's just a matter of the hair growing back. The main thing is that by removing that facial fold the dog can not only breathe more easily, but it prevents infection occurring. Thankfully at the last minute we found a foster home for Gherkin, so that will leave only Pumpkin remaining at Kennedy Town, and I think she'll find a home quite easily.
Sunday is puppy day at Whiskers N Paws, 10/F Horizon Plaza, as well as adoption day at all of our locations. Please note that next Sunday is Chinese New Year so we won't be holding the event at Whiskers N Paws, although we will be open as usual everywhere else from 10am to 6pm.
I would like to mention that the puppies staying at our Homing Centres aren't looking for foster homes, as only the under-age puppies need fostering. It's true that some older puppies are in foster care, but these are the ones that have been in their temporary homes since they were very young, and have so far not been lucky enough to be chosen for adoption. Cressie is one such doglet, and her foster parents have kindly held onto her rather than send her to our Tai Po Homing Centre. However she's still very much available, so if you're looking for a sweet young dog who is fully house trained in every way, then please ask about Cressie by emailing Cindy at foster"hongkongdogrescue.com.
These are the puppies we currently have available, and as you can see, there's a lot of them!
