Marnie is adopted! |
I remember Marnie being surrendered to us years ago, an angry little dog with the face of an angel, very much like now-Lamma resident Banjo, another deceptively cute toe biter. If these small-sized "Red" dogs were bigger they'd be a problem, but being ankle-high means their "eccentricities" are manageable. They're also fine with the volunteers they know and like, but we do have to keep them in a separate "Red Dog Centre" in Ap Lei Chau so that visitors and inexperienced volunteers aren't at risk.
Lamma dog Banjo has a thing about toes |
Marnie was recently taken for a trial adoption by someone who has previously had another one of our difficult small dogs, so she was ready for a new challenge after that dog died. She came to meet Marnie several times before taking her home, and to our amazement and delight, Marnie has behaved perfectly and her adoption was confirmed today.
Once again it proves that there's the right home for every dog as long as we can wait long enough, and seeing one of the "unhomeables" adopted is just amazing. Big thanks too to volunteer Joe for being the one who introduced Marnie to her now-adopter, and helped with the initial meetings.
These puppies are "hot" right now |
There was quite a lot of interest in the puppies at the first Puppy Party of 2023 at Whiskers N Paws, even if no actual adoptions took place on site. We'll have to see who ends up being the lucky winners of the day later this week, as the potential families come back to make their final choice. Eric Tang was the photographer to kick off the year, and as always his photos will make you smile Puppy Adoption Day 8th January 2023.
There's also been a lot of interest in the small-medium dogs staying at our HKDR@Elgin space in Soho, 22 Elgin Street to be exact. Unfortunately the Centre Manager, Cam, was off all week so we weren't able to process any of the adoption applications, and now that means sorting through them and choosing the home that we think will be best for each dog. With Maddox now out of the picture as top favourite, it seems Helga and Maisie have moved up in the rankings, but maybe the new arrivals at Elgin Street will challenge their position. These are the two young siblings Scooter and Sybil, Soybean, and the very sweet poodle pair, now called Muffin and Miffy.
