Sweet Jared has his new home |
The happiest news of the year so far is that two Tai Po dogs were adopted today, both lovely boys who were fully deserving of this second chance. Jared was the first to leave, with Jayden, now Alfie, going home later in the day.

The medium-to-large adult dogs at our Tai Po Homing Centre are overlooked in favour of the small-to-medium ones staying at our Elgin Street location, or Kennedy Town, but they're no more difficult or challenging to look after. The only real difference is the space they take up, but unless really tiny, small dogs also need proper exercise. In fact a lot of the small breeds are much more hyper and excitable than laid-back bigger dogs, as we know all too well from our "Red" dog collection in Ap Lei Chau, and some of the dogs staying at the Small Dogs' House on Lamma. Cocker spaniel Phaedra, for example, would be impossible to keep in a home that wasn't away from a busy area, as she hates strangers with a passion.

Lamma resident Phaedra is far more challenging |
Talking of small dogs, the mother-and-daughter pair of poodles will be arriving on Sunday, and these are two very sweet characters. We need them to go to a home together as they're very bonded, so please don't ask to adopt only one.
Maddox has been the small dog that so many people have been asking about, so there's good news (for Maddox) and bad news for all of those who had been hoping to take her home as she left HKDR@Elgin today.
We will be resuming our Sunday Puppy Parties at Whiskers N Paws this weekend, so you can meet a selection of lovely hopefuls from 2pm to 4pm, including some of those who are currently staying in foster homes. Please remember to complete the adoption questionnaire if you're planning to come, so we know in advance what you're looking for: https://hongkongdogrescue.com/.../adoption-questionnaire/.
