Fri 12th Aug: How quickly things change

We had arranged a small leaving lunch today for our admin do-it-all, Ka Yan, but when the torrential rain started and didn't stop, I had to warn that I may not be able to make it over from Lamma.  I was ready to leave if the weather allowed, and at the last minute with a break in the clouds I jumped on a sampan, and by the time I was on my way home later in the afternoon the sun was already out and promising to stay.

I'm very sorry to say goodbye to Ka Yan, who has been with HKDR for nine years and has been such a big part of everything office-related, as well as adopting one of the office dogs, Brandy, when we had to leave Ap Lei Chau.  However she's promised to see some projects she started through to completion, such as this year's Flag Day and the sorting out of our email problems, something that's been incredibly difficult to manage over recent months.  I know absolutely nothing about IT so I can't even begin to explain what the issue is, I just hope that it will soon be fixed.

One of the many crochet campaigns to raise funds

We have a new staff member (Margaret) starting in September to take over from Ka Yan, and until that time Linda, our ex-General Manager, volunteer, supporter and creator of the crocheted dogs that you will have seen being sold to raise funds, has very kindly offered to act as temporary admin support (for which I'm incredibly grateful!)

Tommy and Tiffany need a new foster

More things that suddenly changed include the foster home for the two rain babies, now called Tommy and Tiffany.  It seems that caring for the little ones was a bit too much, so we urgently need a new foster home please.  These aren't tiny babies that need bottle feeding, so actually it's fairly easy to have two young pups together as they only need regular feeds, replacing of the pee pads and lots of handling along with cuddles.

The resident dog isn't happy with Snoopy and Snuffle

Also proving to be too much for the adopters, or rather their existing dog, are the two pug puppies that we thought were doing so well.  I have already explained that they're making up for lost puppy time and play non-stop, but if the idea of that makes you smile (and they really are very funny), and you would like to offer them a home, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.hongkongdogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-questionnaire/

Poor tiny Tinny is all alone

We'd also love to find a foster home for new ex-AFCD puppy Tinny (she was going to be Tiny due to her small size), or a forever home of course.  We were first told Tinny was four months old, then she was licensed as three months, but it's very clear that she's actually only two months.  She is really tiny, and also very lonely being the only puppy of her age at the Homing Centre.  for foster enquiries please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com, or foster.hkdr@gmail.com as an alternative.

The weekend is here and with the weather seeming to be fine and sunny (assuming there aren't more sudden changes) we can look forward to a fun-filled Puppy Party at Whiskers N Paws on Sunday.  Please go to our Facebook page

Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR)  for many photos of our available puppies (and there are so many to choose from!)  Most of the puppies are staying at either or our Kennedy Town Centres, three are resident at Whiskers N Paws, while many others are in foster homes, including these shown below.
