Thurs 1st Nov: Fake typhoon news

I was all set to go over to AFCD today when the T3 signal went up and the weather forecast warned of strengthening winds later in the day. I'm always afraid of being stranded on Hong Kong Island and unable to get home in these situations, so I cancelled all my plans and stayed home while the weather also remained perfectly calm and fine for the rest of the afternoon.  At least I was able to use the time to hand out the monthly heartworm prevention, which in my home involves a memory game as I go round all the dogs and have to remember which ones have already had it.  They're quite sneaky about pretending it's their turn several times over, and there's always the sharks waiting to grab what's dropped.

There were some lovely updates to read, with Buster's being one of them.  Although a lot of potential adopters had asked about him he still waited a long time before being taken home for a trial, mostly because he is a big and strong dog, too much for most people to handle.  Even in this home there was a settling in period, but finally Buster had his adopters trained.

The second happy update was summed up with the words "We love Jewel". Chow chow Jewel's adopters had first asked about taking in one of the Macau greyhounds so it's quite funny that they should end up with his small-sized fluffy girl, but she's fitted right in and has proved to be perfect for the home and the already-resident dog.  Now can we hope that our remaining chow chow girl, Chow Mein, who is just as small, cute and loving, will have her chance?

As I wrote yesterday, Nancy and Cello made the move to Tai Po today, as well as seven month-old Asher.  I felt really sad about having to do this because the two older girls are very settled in the office, and that's one of the reasons why they needed to leave.  However the main reason was because at Tai Po they will meet lots of potential adopters, and I'm looking forward to hearing that they have been chosen very soon.  Both are really lovely dogs who deserve a family.

Asher will join the other older puppies at Tai Po, and again will have the opportunity to be seen by potential adopters much more than he did at Ap Lei Chau.
