Mon 6th Aug: Catching up on yesterday's news

It was a strange day today, as having such an early start meant I actually had time for a proper lunch with a friend before taking two of the four new ex-AFCD Shatin dogs to Acorn.  It's clear that all four of these dogs are the same family, with (now) Patsy the young mother, and her sons being just a year old.

Patsy is small and so pretty
Patsy is very pretty as well as small, and she looks to me like a cross between a beagle and a Staffie, although she could really be any kind of mix.  It's likely the father of her kids was a husky, or a husky cross, as the two larger sons each have a different coloured eye. In fact they look like mirror images of each other so we were thinking of names that were couples, finally agreeing on Chip and Dale.   The smaller of the brothers is staying at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre with mother Patsy, and as he has the larger body of a big dog but short legs like his mother, so I called him Shorty.
Chip and Dale are bigger so staying at Tai Po
Shorty had no problem settling in

All of the dogs are very friendly, and Shorty was even happy to play fetch with Cactus within a short time of his arrival.  (You can see the video on our HKDR Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hkdogrescue/).

I had to leave home too early to be able to post the lovely set of photos by Sunday's volunteer photographer Jimmy Tsang, so here is the link
Puppy Adoption Day 5 August 2018

Hazel and her new family
As I mentioned there were three actual adoptions at Whiskers N Paws during the afternoon, with another small pup almost certainly going during the week and little foster pup Midge having her status upgraded to adopted (by her family).  Many of the puppies now live full time at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre,  with Misty and Jill being live-in guests at Whiskers N Paws, so all of them are available to meet every day of the week during opening hours.
Joshua was the third puppy of the day to go home
It's Hector's lucky day!

Smartie and Burma are now family
Further foster-to-adopt happy updates, the first being no surprise really as Smartie the border collie has become Burma's official brother, and Hercules the Malamute has finally found his perfect match and will be moving into his new forever home very soon.  He has been extremely lucky to have been in the best possible foster home until now, and we are always extremely grateful for these temporary accommodation situations as it means a happy and stress-free waiting time for the dogs and puppies, not to mention help with training and behaviour assessment.  If you can offer a dog or puppy a temporary foster home, please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com for details.  All food and other necessaries are provided, and HKDR covers all basic costs.  All we need from you is love and care, and to be available to meet potential adopters.
Hercules had a wonderful foster home while waiting for adoption
