Tues 4th July: The "J" litter are still waiting for homes

Timmy is so sweet that I want him to be available every day to be seen
I worry a lot about the older puppies that get left behind on Lamma, both for myself and having to cope with the number of dogs, and for the doglets themselves because while they are with me they have zero chance of meeting potential adopters.  At this time of year when adoptions are slow due to so many people heading off for long summer holidays the situation is even worse, and it was with this in mind that I decided to send two of the doglets to Tai Po where they will at least be seen, meet lots of volunteers and get used to walking on a collar and leash.  I chose Timmy because he is a bit different from his many tan-coloured friends, and also because he is so sweet natured, and Josie because she has already been desexed and is ready to go with everything done.

Josie, Jinks, Jonty, Jerry and Jimmy are all part of the "J" litter
Purely coincidentally, as I arrived at the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre to drop Timmy and Josie off until the end of the day when they could be taken to Tai Po, there were two of Josie's brothers waiting to be taken to AFCD for licensing so for a short time they were able to say hello before Jinks and Jonty had to get back into the van to come with me to Pokfulam AFCD for their rabies jabs.

Between them these two best friends have no teeth left now

A whole collection of small dogs had been sent to Acorn in the morning for their desexing and dental work, including the very popular Mandy Maltesy.  Although it had immediately been clear from the condition of her teeth that she was older than one year, the age I had been told before she arrived, I was still wondering why the breeder had thrown her out.  That question was answered when it turned out that she had kidney stones and a urinary tract infection, but at least the poor little mite has a home to go to where everything can be treated.  We had to let her potential adopter know of course, but luckily it made no difference.
Doberman Charis

The doberman girl who arrived from AFCD Sheung Shui along with the other small dogs last week left the Tai Po Homing Centre today.  She had quite a few nice offers of a home, and while she fully deserves to be happy, comfortable and loved, we have so many others that aren't lucky enough to come with a breed label, and that makes me sad.
