Tues 11th July: No AFCD and no Acorn today

Magic-now-Cookie looks amazing now
I managed to stay away from both AFCD and Acorn today so there are no new dogs to talk about, and only the confirmed adoption of Yorkie Magic, now Cookie, to mention.  As a reminder, this lovely little boy came to us from AFCD and we have no idea about his background or why he was surrendered at such a young age, but he's set for life now and that's what matters.

Next Magazine met with our HKDR trainer Cactus at the Tai Po Homing Centre, and Whiskers N Paws on Sunday as well as following an educational talk at the Diocesan Boy's School, and here's the resulting story http://hk.apple.nextmedia.com/…/2_…/-動物無有怕-狗仔上台話你知-其實我哋唔會亂咬人

Unfortunately for our non-Cantonese speakers you can only watch the video, but I hope Cactus will add a few words about the meaning later today.  We're always very happy to be able to share media stories about our work and the value of adoption, and as you can see our two ex-HKDR dog volunteers, Ace and Leyla, behaved like stars for their school visit.

Minty got her towel back
Dogs are so funny sometimes, and puppies can be just as determined about their likes and dislikes. I thought it was time to change the towel I had given Minty as a bed, especially as it was the same towel I'd used to pick her up with when I took her from AFCD and her skin was so sticky and flaky. Minty's been using it to sleep on, but I thought she might like a proper soft bed with fresh "sheets", and found her one just the right size.  However when I took the towel away and put the bed in its place Minty refused to lie on it, and after a couple of hours of watching her looking so confused and stressed I retrieved the towel, shook it out, and put it back.  The relief was almost visible and Minty immediately lay down and went to sleep.
