Sun 1st Jan 2023: Hitting the New Year running

Hector was the first dog of 2023 to leave

Even though many will have wanted a lie-in after a late night (myself included),  it was business as usual at all of our Centres, with special thanks to the volunteers at our Elgin Street location for keeping the shop open.  Hector was picked up from there to start his new life as an adopted dog, the first of this year.
Hadley (l) and newbie Vespa

The other adoptions for the first day of 2023 were puppies leaving our Kennedy Town Centres, including new arrival Vespa who went home with another puppy, Hadley.  Talk about beginner's luck!

Cherry is a very sweet puppy

Cherry was also chosen, and later in the day it was Gidget's turn.
Gidget has her forever home too

I'm always relieved to see the end of the holiday periods, as vet appointments are almost impossible and there are inevitably emergency cases. Luckily we found a clinic that could see Tai Po dog Apollo when he needed immediate surgery for GDV (twisted stomach), but my Lamma dog Finn has to wait until Tuesday to have his eye injury treated. As you know, every day's a working day at HKDR and our Homing Centres are open from 10am to 6pm without exception.

  1. Hi Sally, do "Tong Gau's" get twisted stomachs also because some of them are very deep chested?
