Sun 3rd April: Really a Sun-day

Walter is adopted

It was a perfect day for walking the dogs today, so thanks to the volunteers who took some of the Tai Po dogs out for a hike, which they love of course.  Sadly there were no adoptions to write about from the big Homing Centre, but  there has been quite a lot of interest in the available puppies, with some adoptions confirmed (Walter and Donald), and others in the pipeline.   Even though the opening of the Kennedy Town Homing Centre seems to be put back every week as supplies from Mainland China are almost impossible to obtain, the good news is that we may be re-starting the Sunday Puppy Parties at Whiskers N Paws this coming weekend, so please keep your eyes open for any announcements, as well as updates on available dogs and puppies Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR).

It's really wonderful to receive positive feedback from adopters, whether puppies or adult dogs, and foster parents too.  This is from Lucy's adopters:

Lucy's new amazing life

"I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing everything you do and for the gift of Lucy. We have only known her for a week, but she is such a perfect pup and we are so blessed to have her in our lives.

She is so gentle and sweet and yet has a really adventurous spirit. People have been asking us what breed she is and whether she is a European breed, but I proudly say she is a 100 per cent HK mongrel, loved by so many - HKDR, her foster family, Whiskers & Paws and now us.

I know that so many other people have had their lives changed through the service your provide.  We are truly grateful."
Lucy is a real water lover

And this is from the foster parent of Tai Po adult Soybean:

Soybean at Tai Po

"The weather was pretty terrible last week and it seemed to have affected Soybean’s desire to be outside. We still go out three times a day but never for more than an hour. He’s not a huge fan of the rain and neither am I! I do have to confess I’ve been calling him Scratch. His eyes remind me so much of the slightly crazed looking squirrel from Ice Age!

Thank you too for all of the advice and explanation on Scratch/ Soyabean. And I think he’s  absolutely ready to find a wonderful forever home. Let me help with a description of what it’s like to live with Scratch.

If you are looking for a plug and play addition to your home, look no further. Scratch is the one you’ve been waiting for. I’ve never had a dog integrate so easily and with so much gratitude aa Scratch. Completely relaxed with adults and children alike, totally potty trained, Scratch is also a dream on a leash. He is happy to trot by my side and sniff the flowers. He is cautiously friendly with other dogs but if surrounded by several, will let them know he’s nervous with a low growl. Another plus - Scratch is not a barker. There are four of us at home and he’s happy to go out for a walk with any of us. We did this on purpose to help him get used to being comfortable in a multi person household but we had nothing to worry about. Scratch is a natural with human beings and my guess is he would be fantastic in a house with children who like to cuddle because he is an affection sponge." [Photos to follow]
