Mon 11th April: Slowly taking shape

Where we're up to in Kennedy Town

I think quite a few of you are waiting for our Kennedy Town Homing Centre to open, but unfortunately everything is taking much longer than it should due to the difficulties of getting the materials (like stainless steel) in from China.  However we are making progress as you will see from the photo, and thanks to the help of a few volunteers today we were able to move a lot of stock over from Elgin Street where it had all been temporarily stored.  Now everything has to be sorted and put away in the cabinets and cupboards, something that's a lot harder than packing it all away.  As to when the Homing Centre will be ready to receive its first four-legged guests, that still remains to be seen.
How it looked before

Two of these dogs will be Thomas and Tanner who have been in a foster home together since we had to leave the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre.  They're both timid boys who really need to be in a home with another dog, so even when they come back and have others for company they will still need to go to a home where there's already a dog if they can't be adopted as a pair.

This is their progress report from the current foster home:

Thomas

"They walk very well on the lead together and are good with other dogs, Thomas in particular. Tanner is still sometimes a bit nervous of larger dogs coming up to him, but each day he grows in confidence.

Thomas and Tanner hardly ever use the pee pad in the apartment, day or night, as they wait for their walks.

Thomas hardly ever growls at my husband now and even approaches him for some attention.

Thomas and Tanner both are gaining in confidence every day and even enjoy car journeys now, especially if it means a new walk to discover!"
Tanner
