Weds 8th Feb: Good luck interviews

Paisley was adopted shortly after meeting John Tsang
While I remember, I need to find foster homes for five baby pups that are currently at AFCD with their mother but need to move out.  The mother will be taken into care separately as she is very thin and can't keep feeding her babies, and in any case they are four weeks old now and can eat independently. They will need to go as a pair and three together at this young age, and if anyone can offer them a temporary place please contact Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.  As always all food and provisions will be provided and any vet bills covered if necessary.

I was looking forward to a day at home today, not that it's a day off exactly but I need to do things that I don't usually have time for.  It also means Bali can come along on the morning walk, something which adds quite a bit of time to the outing because he's so slow and I need to support him for most of the way, but he loves it and it makes him happy.

However, even though I did let Bali join the group today, I had to leave home in the afternoon to go and visit Ginny in hospital where she has still not yet been diagnosed with anything that can explain her very weak condition.  She had an ultrasound scan which showed some thickening of the gut but nothing definitive, and it seems that she will need to be opened up on Thursday to see what's going on. She was still a bit sleepy from the sedation when I arrived, but even so it was upsetting that she didn't register that I was there at all.  I stayed with her for some time but there was no response to my touch or voice, so all I can do now is wait and see.
Rosie is being adopted by the neighbour of her previous family

Coolio is a very sweet boy
There was at least some happy news for two of the bigger dogs staying at Ap Lei Chau as both Coolio and Rosie will be leaving for new homes this weekend.  It's quite funny that I had just introduced both of them, as well as another larger dog Babette, when I did an interview with the South China Morning Post on Monday, and they will be featured in the story when it comes out.  The same happened to two dogs, Paisley and Scarlet,  that Chief Executive Candidate John Tsang met when he visited Ap Lei Chau last Saturday and who were later adopted on that same afternoon.   It seems that something magic happens when dogs are noticed!

Giles Wilson will be ending his fundraising campaign this Sunday
Giles Wilson is a genuine dog lover who came to HKDR a year ago telling us he has always disliked running, but had anyway decided to run 2000 km just to raise funds for HKDR's dogs. He has been running non-stop ever since he made that promise and will finally will be finishing his very last marathon on this coming Sunday.  We we are hoping everyone can show a little support by donating to HKDR through the link https://www.youcaring.com/hong-kong-dog-rescue-hkdr-505589

Thank you and every dollar counts!
