Fri 7th April: Some dog reminders

When I went to see the ex-Elgin dogs and puppies today at North Street, Kennedy Town, I was reminded of several characters who should definitely be in homes by now, or at least up there at the top of the list. Why is terrier Teddy still with us, for example.  This little guy is young, has a coat that's suitable for allergy sufferers, and he has a great personality (bearing in mind that he's a terrier so he thinks he's big and tough).  However his barking at other dogs is posturing and not aggression, and he quickly moves on.  He shouldn't still be waiting to be adopted.

Nacho

And poodle Nacho, a brilliant little dog, is so often an almost-adoption but never actually chosen.

Later additions Katie and three-legged Kai are really very sweet, small-medium, only a year old, and just lovely. Meet them and see what I mean.

Opal

The puppies have certainly grown since they first arrived, and anyone entering their room get blasted with an avalanche of furry enthusiasm.  Even the newest "O" trio seem to have fitted in so well with the others, and with good and plentiful food in their tummies they are just as strong.
Olive

Odette

They've started going out for walks now, or at the very least being carried outside to see what goes on beyond the walls of their "home".  It's time they experienced more of life, so even if you're not able to adopt please consider fostering.  This period of a puppy's life is so important, and now that even the very shy ones have gained confidence, the next step is necessary so they can develop their minds and outlook on life.  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you have the space and time to look after a puppy until he or she finds a forever home.

For many more puppy photos please go to our Hong Kong Dog Rescue Facebook page, or Instagram @hkdr_kennedytown because there are just too many at both of our Kennedy Town Homing Centres to include here.

There'll be a collection of foster puppies at Whiskers N Paws this weekend, although realistically with it being Easter Sunday we're not expecting huge crowds.  Still, the puppies enjoy their two hours on the terrace and always have a great time, so in that sense it's never a wasted afternoon.  I can't wait for the holidays to be over though so we can get back to business as usual.
