Fri 14th April: In and out, and just in

The border collie girl

I'm very happy to say that both of the border collies were adopted today, so even if you send a questionnaire and your home is very suitable, there's no chance that you can take one of them home.  While I know that every dog deserves a home and a great life, it still saddens me that so many applied to adopt this pair without even considering the many others who are just as lovely.

Young mother Aqua

The other dog that also came from AFCD along with the border collies is a young mother, and I have to say that after seeing photos of open wounds on her underside, I'm relived that she no longer has to feed babies because it must have been incredibly painful.  Someone had contacted me about a dog that may very well be this mother, now called Aqua, and if it is the same one her life has been nothing but hard.  As I wrote about recently, female dogs (bitches) can come into season at just a few months of age, so like Aqua they can have had two litters by the time they're just a year old.  I wonder how long Aqua will have to wait before someone offers her a home?
Very cute puppy Goofy

Over at Kennedy Town the other three dogs arrived, one being an adorable terrier-type puppy (Goofy), along with a young adult terrier, Gala (who is actually a boy).  The dog with most of his front leg missing is Gallant, and he'll be seeing Dr Tony at Acorn for his opinion on whether it would be better to take the remaining part of the leg off.   There's already interest in Gala, and I know Goofy won't have any trouble finding a home, but like Aqua I suspect Gallant will have to wait some time.  We still have another super-sweet and small-medium sized boy with only three legs called Kai waiting for his turn.

This is a great photo of Teddy

Also still waiting, terrier Teddy went to the vet today and I'm very happy to have a much nicer photo of him as a result.  This is the real Teddy, very cute and scruffy, with a coat that is suitable for allergy sufferers.
Sweet Lola needs a home please!

Another little dog that has a low-shedding coat is Lola the bichon, who stayed behind as an office assistant at Elgin Street while the other dogs and puppies moved to Kennedy Town.  I had to go to the office today, and Lola greeted me like a long-lost friend, demanding that I scratch her back for her, again and again.  She is so different now from the very scared and traumatised dog that was given up by her family, so please think about her if you're looking for a devoted companion who just wants to be loved.

The weekend means (hopefully)  more good news about adoption, and definitely the Whiskers N Paws puppy party, 2pm to 4pm, at 10/F Horizon Plaza, Ap Lei Chau.  Please come early if you're thinking about adopting, because you need to allow time to spend with the puppies.
