Tues 12th May: Another busy day

Norton happy to be out of his kennel
With the (very friendly) chinchilla now safely at Whiskers N Paws and happily enjoying his dust bath,  golden retriever Norton was settling into his new foster home in advance of his health check on Thursday.  The poor dog was found as a stray, presumably thrown out of his previous home, and apart from the two months spent at AFCD we don't know how long he was on the streets before that so heartworm is always a strong possibility, apart from all of the other things that could be wrong. I'm just happy that he can enjoy the comforts of a loving home now, even if it's only a foster at the moment.

Cherry's got her family now!

Sweet puppy girl Cherry finally found her forever family today, and being the last of her litter to go we can now close that particular file.  Harley and his sister Hattie remain at Ap Lei Chau, and there will be a new puppy joining them on Wednesday.  I don't have any details yet so I'll have to wait and see what turns up.
It's taken 2 years but Dimple's long wait is over

It was also Dimple's big going-home day today, and I was reminded by Iris that it has been two years since she came to us as a tiny pimply puppy with bad skin.  I do remember her as a singelton baby and taking her from AFCD, but hadn't realised how long she's been with us and waiting for this day to arrive.  Once again I really want to thank her foster home for playing such an important part in getting Dimple ready for adoption, and to all foster parents for the vital role they play in helping so many dogs and puppies during the waiting stage of their lives.
Curly and Cactus at the dog park just before he left to go to his new home

Standard poodle Curly also went off to a new home, again for a trial with two other small-sized poodles, but there's enough space to allow each to get to know each other without any pressure.  Everyone who met Curly fell in love with him, so I really don't know how or why he ended up at AFCD before coming to us.
