Tues 12th Dec: Eight new babies

The litter of 8 had to be split into two spaces
Once again my work table is taken up with a Giant Cage, actually fencing this time as even the cage wasn't big enough, with an additional cage on top of another table, both temporary homes for a litter of eight baby pups I took from AFCD today.  They are four weeks old and full of beans when they're not asleep, and even at this age they know to go to one end of the too-small space to pee and poo.  In fact having this many little furries to take care of is an endless round of feeding and cleaning up, and I urgently need help with foster homes.  All food, bowls and fencing if required will be provided, and you can arrange to pick up at our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre any time during opening hours (10am to 6pm).  Please email Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com if you can take a pair of babies until the Christmas and New Year holidays are over.  Just in case anyone is interested in adopting, I think these will be large sized adults as they are quite chunky even at a month old.

I was also able to take a grey/white schnauzer girl out of AFCD, nine years old and really very scared.  She had calmed down by the time we got to Acorn and she had been sitting on my lap for a reassuring cuddle, but I'm pretty sure she's not going to be happy with the crowds at the Homing Centre.

Boris had his adoption confirmed
At least we had good news about Boris the bulldog and Topper the corgi as both trial adoptions were confirmed.
Topper looks comfortable enough

Beagle Hooter is also settling well, and his update is very helpful in showing that the connection many would-be adopters expect at a first meeting rarely happens.  It takes a while for a dog to feel comfortable.

"Hooter is a different dog today versus when we first brought him back on Saturday!

He had some issues going on walks, and would walk very slowly, and refuse to walk up the stairs. He would come home and be very lethargic, passing out instantly. We realized it was really his fitness level. Since taking him on walks up the hill behind us daily, he has improved and has even started running along after our dog Lullah!

As expected, he had a few accidents in the house. But we tried to "Catch him in the act" every time, and he hasn't peed indoors at all since yesterday!

Lullah, being overly active, annoyed him quite a bit initially. She would constantly bug him to play and push him around. He would snap back and growl at her. So to avoid a fight from breaking out, we were quite wary on leaving them alone together. Since a few days have passed, he is warming up to her and even cuddles with her when they sleep! He follows her around the house and believe they will become BFFs!

Over all, we are loving his company and at this rate, we can see him being a lovable addition! He is really so lovable and loves cuddles with us on the couch (We are thinking to change his name to "Hunter")."
Hooter and "sister"

The pointer girl, now Gigi, also took some time to settle in with her "brother" Jax, but look at them now.
Two dogs, one stick

Sometimes it's a match made in heaven, and the pug that was surrendered today and taken straight home was supposed to be for a trial but turned into an on-the-spot forever home.
