It's only ten days until Christmas, and as a reminder we'll be gathering the volunteers and supporters at the Tamar Park on Saturday evening for the annual HKDR party. Everyone is invited to come along, dogs included so I'm told. The event start at 7pm but I'll be going over a bit earlier so I can visit Dogtown, 15 Square Street, to see the amazing winter scene for myself and plant a few figures in the snow.
"Hong Kong Dog Rescue will be celebrating Christmas with volunteers, staff, adopters, foster parents and supporters at The Great British Food Festival, Tamar Park, Central. 7pm to 11pm.
Links of London will have a beautiful Christmas Tree on site and there will be a giant snow globe, provided by British Airways - perfect for photos!
This dog-friendly event has catering from 8 restaurants all with a British theme plus bars and entertainment.
Entry is free, you just need to pay for food or drink once inside."

By Sunday I'll have 2 puppies still needing a foster home |
Two more baby pups were taken for fostering today, while the Sunday youngster who was adopted before she had a name was picked up from the Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre. I'm told she will be called Beaker.

No name when adopted last Sunday |

The person who posted this is NOT the ex owner, just someone trying to help |

Baby Dustin in March 2016 |

Baby Eva March 2016 |
Sadly not all adoptions are for ever, and today two dogs were returned without notice to our Tai Po Homing Centre after their owner chose to leave Hong Kong without them. You must all know how I feel about that and I'm sure you agree, but just in case, the now ex-owner of Dustin and Eva elected to abandon them after almost two years and just before Christmas. I only found out indirectly about this situation as of course word gets around when someone is secretly trying to dispose of any ex-HKDR dog, and I was sent the post that a third party had shared (not the owner as he obviously didn't care enough). Looking back over old emails from the owner I shouldn't have been surprised about his actions, but nevertheless I always hope my instincts are proved to be wrong. Leaving aside my anger, the dogs are the ones who need help right now if anyone can take them in.
As a reminder, when you adopt a puppy it's for the duration of their lifetime, not only for as long as you're in Hong Kong, until a baby comes along or any other unacceptable reason.

Teddy having a quiet snooze |

Teddy is a loving poodle boy |
Another dog who urgently needs a new place to stay is foster poodle Teddy. As a foster dog this was never going to be a forever home, and now the time is coming close for him to have to move out. Teddy has grown into a lovely dog during his months in foster and this is his reference:
TEDDY
We have been fostering Teddy since mid August. Teddy is a very affectionate boy who loves to have his tummy rubbed, enjoys cuddles, fetching toys ( greets every person who comes to the house with a toy in his mouth) and snoozing!! He likes to be cuddled on your lap and will bury his face behind you and sleep - very sweet.
Teddy also enjoys his walks.
Sadly we are leaving Hong Kong early in January and we are unable to take Teddy with us. My family is very fond of him and would so love him to go to another loving home than back to the Homing Centre.
Please consider fostering or adopting Teddy. He has a lot of love to give.
