Mon 11th Dec: Online sales for Christmas

The small dogs are coming into our Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre at an alarming rate, possibly and probably because of the time of year and the annual clearout.  Apart from the five ex-breeder rescues that arrived at the weekend, there were an additional surprise two today, with a tiny pom and a white schnauzer waiting at AFCD and hopefully free to leave on Tuesday.

The breeder dogs needed to be licensed and to go for their routine vet checks today, and they all had the inevitable bad teeth, bad skin and dirty ears that are normal in these cases.  You would think that it would be in the interests of the breeders to keep their dogs free from infection and disease, but they just don't care.  Easy come, easy go, and plenty more where they came from is their motto.

We also wonder why people adopt if they have no real interest

We also had a Sheltie surrendered today who had been previously adopted from another organisation and then pretty much ignored.  This poor girl is now nine years old but has never really been walked or taken care of in any sense since her adoption as a young dog.

For the good news, which is always welcome, puppy Twix melted her foster family's heart and will be staying for ever.  Failed fosters are the best!

There are always heartwarming cases to balance the sad ones, and today old schnauzer Snowy was taken for end-of-life fostering.  This poor boy just needs a soft bed, peace and quiet and some love, and the busy Homing Centre is too much for him.  We are all incredibly grateful for the kindness shown, and to know that Snowy will not have to worry about anything now.
