Jelly just has all her teeth removed so looks a bit dozy, poor girl |
I wanted to drop off some baby puppy food at AFCD for the young litter of eight, as there's no allowance made for age when it comes to feeding and these youngsters need appropriate care. I was upset to see a new dog in the kennels who had just given birth, and may still have been in the process as I could only see two newborns. Large dogs usually have litters of at least eight, and often more, but I was told this dog wasn't tending to her pups so it's quite possible they won't survive. As harsh as it might sound that may not be a bad thing given the large number of puppies being born at this time, and the few homes available for mixed breeds. The staff at the AFCD kennels are kind and well-meaning, but there's only so much they can do to help so fate will decide the outcome of this litter.

The additional breeder dogs didn't arrive today but were dropped off at a vet clinic for us to collect on Saturday morning, so we will have new Yorkies, bichon frise and poodles, seven in total I believe.
It's going to be a crazily busy weekend with so many new dogs and all the Christmas events, so please don't forget the dogs and that we need homes or fosters! Emails Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com about fostering, or complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website www.hongkongdogrescue.com (under Adopt) if you can give a dog a home for life.
