Sun 17th Dec: Happy news day

Mick and his new sister
I am so happy to be able to talk about adoptions today as they have been a bit thin on the ground recently, and I'll start with Mick at Tai Po, one of two brothers found wandering in Shing Mun Country park some time ago.   As vizsla crosses who look very similar to the breed, we had all assumed they would be adopted very quickly but it didn't happen like that, even though they are both incredibly loving and affectionate.  Mick's adopter wrote  "His kind and gentle manner had won our hearts and of those he met! Thank you very much for the recommendation. We are so happy to have him in our life!"

At our own Ap Lei Chau Homing Centre there were three adoptions, the first being shiba inu Mindy, another very sweet dog who is still coming to terms with her breeder past.  Now she can continue to gain confidence in a home, and I'm sure she will do well.

Pansy is one of the lucky poodles
Another ex-breeder dog, poodle Pansy, also found her forever home today, followed by young mix-of-sorts Pepper.

One thing we have discovered is that there's a problem with the website search function and not all of the dogs are coming up when, for example, you look for poodles.  It explains why the lovely poodles we have in foster homes haven't been adopted, something we just didn't understand.  Now we have decided to make a list of all the poodles available, with their details and photos, so you will be able to see them all at a glance.

Toffee (l) and Scrumpy enjoying a lie-in
Being child-friendly is one of the main decision makers for most adopters, and poodles Toffee and Scrumpy, in the same foster home, are both perfect for families with kids.  If you want to know more about them you can search he website dogs by name, or ask our Foster Coordinator Cindy at foster@hongkongdogrescue.com.

Callie is another very sweet ex-breeder poodle who came to us with a surprise.  She gave birth to two babies shortly after arrival, although only one survived.  Callie and her pup have been in foster since then but they are fully ready to leave, and we are really hoping for a home where mother and baby can stay together.  Again please email Cindy if you are interested.

Dilys didn't need to come to Whiskers N Paws today
I was expecting a very quiet afternoon at Whiskers N Paws but it turned out to be surprisingly busy, and even before I got there I had been given the happy news that Dilys was staying in her foster home for ever.  With that adoption already confirmed, the next to go was Bina, a fantastic puppy who should have been in a home a long time ago.  Still, better late than never.

There was a shifting round of foster homes which saw both Rollo and Ziggy getting a real and warm Christmas promised, while little Coco was the one that came back.  Let Cindy know if you can foster her as she is really too small to be living outside.

Bina checked her name is really on the board
